Creating and Protecting Great Brands

Presented by Maria Speth, a partner at the Phoenix law firm Jaburg Wilk and Tanya Gagnon, principal and brand strategist at Miss Details Design. In November 2013, Thomson Reuters released The World’s Most Valuable Brands list topped by Apple at a $104.3 billion brand valuation. It is not unusual for a company’s trademarks to be the most valuable assets the company owns. Yet some entrepreneurs pay very little attention to how to create and preserve value in their company’s brands. Join us to learn how to create and protect great brands. This informative presentation will cover: (1) the difference between weak and strong trademarks both from a legal perspective and from a marketing perspective; (2) the definition of a trademark; (3) clearing new product and service names before use; (4) protection of trademarks; (5) trademark infringement issues; and (6) how to properly use trademark symbols.

Brand Your Business Like Your Favorite Restaurant, presented by Miss Details Design

Miss Details Design has assembled a panel of branding experts in the hospitality industry to collaborate and share information about developing a memorable and engaging brand. Miss Details Design is the leading sensory design firm for service-related businesses with an emphasis in the hospitality industry, and has worked with many restaurants to construct well-established, consistent brands. The Miss Details Design philosophy focuseson creating an emotionally-charged brand that results in an intense customer experience, a concept that is more important than ever in today’s competitive marketplace.

Brand Your Business Like Your Favorite Restaurant will feature three panelists who will explore building a brand experience similar to that of your favorite restaurant. Restaurants interact daily with their customers and create success by incorporating their same guests’ experience in the restaurant throughout their brand. We have invited these panelists to discuss their thoughts on building a brand and establishing consistency through growth in order to create a truly memorable brand.
